Tai Chi & Taoist Meditation

 

 

Welcome to the SOAS Tai Chi and Meditation Society.

 

An internal martial art from China, Tai Chi Chuan was formed from a fusion of Shaolin kung fu martial techniques and Taoist practices and principles.

Tai Chi emphasises smooth flowing movements and deep relaxation and awareness. It is remarkably effective at releasing stress, clearing your mind and increasing your energy.

At SOAS you will learn Wu style Tai Chi Chuan along with the Taoist Water Method of meditation (not religious Taoism).

You can also, if interested, learn Tai Chi as a martial art.

No less effective than hard/external martial arts, Tai Chi offers you the chance to enjoy learning a martial art without increasing physical and mental tension.
